A Letter to the Editor ...

Sent to a regional newspaper in Western Maryland, USA, and noted for publication as an Op-Ed or a Letter to the Editor. Will it be published? Probably not, due to its heavy scriptural content and controversial opinion. But we'll see.

Beginning of a Magnificent Charade?

8:20 am., Sunday, June 10th; Singapore. The dark velvet night of Singapore airbase was intruded upon by the gentle, majestic giant of air transport, decorated tastefully in white, blue and gold livery, tail number 92000, displaying the American banner on its lighted rudder. Air Force One touched the runway, slowed, turned about and deliberately taxied to its docking station as, on the tarmac, dignitaries awaiting the arrival raised their expectant faces to catch their first glimpse of the US president as he appeared in the doorway at the head of the movable stairway and waved his familiar gesture in greeting.

It is the first palpable step in what promises to be a long, tortuous journey of diplomacy between the leaders of North Korea and the United States – Kim Jung Un and Donald Trump.

From a prophetic viewpoint, we frankly wonder what real significance this series of meetings will have. Perhaps they are merely smoke over the turbulent waters of the agitated world affairs of the age ... a transitory, fruitless convulsion of the mighty men of the earth, yielding no profitable outcome or result more than further frustration and uncertainty.

But they do reflect the generalized, desperate hope, the expectancy – and the trepidation that is felt without question – by the peoples of the earth ... and the stark realization that the world community has become impossibly complex, and even unworkable, on an enormous scale.

It would seem obvious to every sensible observer that mankind is no longer able to solve its dilemmas of state and society. The psalmist wisely observed, Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men.”  Psalm 9:20.

The immaterial “noise” of the nations is referenced by Isaiah, who observed: “Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!  Isaiah 7:12.

His figure of “the noise of the seas ... the rushing of the nations,” recalls the description of all the races of men of the end time, when precisely these conditions should obtain upon the earth.

The Lord Jesus Himself referred to these times in His warning as recorded by Luke: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;” Luke 21: 25.

As enlightened, and greatly blessed observers of these terminal days of the world which has consistently ignored the words of faith and life, our hearts are elevated by the emerging events!

In the final analysis, the dispute between the United States and North Korea regarding nuclear weapons is merely a passing phase of failed human history. It illustrates quite thoroughly the incapability of mankind effectively to govern itself successfully ... and certainly underlines the unwillingness of the nations to obey the revealed will of the Almighty – a comprehensive body of information which has ever been available to them, but which consistently has been ignored by them in their arrogance and confidence in self.

In our opinion, this rushing wind of activity will drone on and on with no definitively satisfactory outcome or resolution. And the final solution of these mundane challenges of humanity will be solved only by the reappearance of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is destined to arrive suddenly, in power and great glory, and to manifest His will among mankind universally, righteously, benevolently, and pervasively.

His own words to the sheep of His household bring reassurance to them because as He states, nothing profitable is achieved by striving or controversy. He compares their required trust (their faith) in Him to that which He also requires of the world, summarizing this prospect beginning in Luke 12: 26 – “If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? 29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

The simple solution which has always evaded mankind is the substance of the everlasting Gospel which shall in the Kingdom Age go forth unto all nations: the inspired word describes the angel of the mid-heaven proclaiming in that future day the singular and powerful principle of universal redemption: “Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:7

It is unreasonable to expect the nations to behave in this fashion in this day, for they purposely ignore the Divine Edicts in favor of their own self-centered interests and goals. We thank our heavenly Father that He has reassured us of the truth – that these ignoble days are rapidly drawing to their end – and that the Age of True Enlightenment is inevitably coming in ... a day which was noted as certain to come by the Apostle Peter: “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10.

The replacement society of the Kingdom Age will be the complete obverse of the civilization which we now experience, and shall be as described by the Prophet Micah at the beginning of his fourth chapter:

Micah 4:1  “But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”  <HEL>

.Israel is Stomping on Iran!

Dateline May 7, 2018.

The international newsfeeds are absolutely swarming with alarmed excitement about the now proven fact that Israel is actively “stomping on Iran” in Syria. It seemed for a while that Israel was holding back its overt attacks on Iranian movements within Syria, but that impression has had to be abandoned within recent days.

In an unprecedented announcement, Israeli Defense Forces made known that Israel did indeed destroy the Iraqi nuclear reactor several years ago in a long-distance air operation which decimated the entire site.

At the same time it admitted that Israeli planes had also destroyed a similar Syrian reactor much more recently, enforcing its declaration that such would not be tolerated by Israel because it greatly endangers the security of the State of Israel.
Now the same kind of announcement has been made to Iran in reference to its military projects within Syria, warning against further such developments on Iran’s part, and outrightly threatening to destroy such facilities, not even allowing them to become operative.

The warning has seemingly fallen upon deaf ears in Tehran, however, and the Iranian Islamic Guard Corps (Iran’s elite army group) has persisted in importing military supplies, missiles, ammunition and equipment into Syria, ostensibly to “prop up” the regime of Bashar al-Assad, president (read “dictator”) of Syria, but with the main purpose of threatening Israel. Israel’s response has been a greatly increased level of activity against such operations during the last five or six weeks.
The result has been alarmed reports that the increased Israeli activity against Iran may bring “one of the worst wars the Middle East has ever seen” as stated by a dispatch from Reuters.

Israeli prime minister Benyamin Netanyahu just last week presented evidence of one of the biggest intelligence coups of all time. Over a year ago (January, 2017) Israeli agents had infiltrated an Iranian storage facility and taken away about a half ton of Iranian records of its nuclear activities: 55,000 paper document files and 55,000 CD-ROM files. He displayed these records in a dramatic PowerPoint presentation on Israel TV. Speaking in impeccable English,

Mr. Netanyahu proved beyond any denial that “Iran Lied” when it purported to have no military nuclear ambitions. The Islamic Republic of Iran has previously claimed its nuclear research was for the sole purpose of producing medical isotopes for research and treatment of disease.

Their claim was clearly refuted when translated records laid out detailed Iranian plans for a Uranium 235 bomb, complete with geometrically accurate diagrams and construction plans, along with detailed plans for producing the necessary nuclear materials for such bombs. The records even contained specific details of the required rockets for the bombs’ long-range delivery.
Iran’s “peaceful” pursuit of nuclear weapons has also been disproven by its constant railing upon the Jewish State, threatening its destruction if it makes any retaliatory move upon Iran’s forces or facilities. It has been an attempt to forestall any such attack by Israel by striving to enlist the sympathies of foreign nations’ popular opinions, shifting them toward Iran’s cause. Some of the press reports are quoted here ...

 Experts say a strike in Syria on Sunday (April 29th) that is believed to have killed Iranians was most likely carried out by Israel in a marked escalation of military conflict.

 Israel appears to have been punishing Iran and walking all over Syria as the US expresses support for Jerusalem.
 The result, experts say, could be a massive war breaking out across a region already ravaged by conflict.
These stepped-up activities by Israel have come in the wake of President Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, proclaiming to all the world that Jerusalem IS INDEED the capital of Israel beyond any dispute.
It is interesting that, apart from protests at the fence surrounding Gaza, in the ensuing weeks, there has been no Arab retaliation at all – retaliation which was earlier described literally as should resemble hellfire on earth toward Israel if the US did so recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

It is curious to us that the same sort of “non-reaction” has been evident from the Russian forces stationed in Syria. Its highly-touted anti-aircraft missile systems, the S300 batteries, are known to be installed in various locations in Syria at this moment. Yet, during the recent US/French/British air assault on three Syrian chemical weapons facilities, not a single US or allied cruise missile or warplane was fired upon by the S300s! A few antiaircraft missiles were fired just for show ... but only after the last cruise missile had struck its target, and the Syrian air space was clear of F18s.

Israeli F-18I Fighter Jets

It is also strange that no Russian missiles have challenged Israeli aircraft overflying Syrian airspace and destroying the Iranian installations. The attack on the Iranian munitions depot on April 29th was so severe that it registered as a 2.9 Richter-Scale earthquake on seismometers located in the area. Over dozens of Iranians were killed according to an early report, later denied by Iran.

Is it possible that the S300 does not detect the overflying aircraft?

Or are the Russian “advisers” holding back?

And does the Russian Bear have teeth? (The evidence shows none.)

And if the Russians, and their allies the Iranians, were going to make a move, it has not come soon enough to prevent PM Netanyahu’s blockbuster revelation of the huge trove of Iranian nuclear materials which he displayed to an international audience last weekend, dumping tons of dirt upon an already soiled regime in Tehran!

Yet, Israel is facing increasing strength of its enemies to the north. Hezbollah in Lebanon are said to have a hundred thousand rockets in place aimed at Israel to the south. The Shiite Iranian-aligned forces in Syria are estimated to have between twenty and seventy thousand rockets aimed toward Israel. Hamas in Gaza boasts that its missiles are also innumerable, yet as in the northern arenas, apart from the border fence protests, Hamas has restrained its aggression in southern Israel for fear of Israeli reprisals – which only a few days ago took the form of Israeli fighter-jets attacking five Hamas naval targets (whose identity was not spelled out) in retaliation for the activities at the border fence.

In addition to all the intrigue outlined above ...

 President Trump is set to make his decision known in a few days as to whether he is going to scrap the Iranian nuclear deal.

 Iran claims that if this happens, the West will pay a dear price.

 The largest “Palestinian” protest against Israel will culminate on “Nakba Day” (May 14th) when Israel reaches its 70th year anniversary on the Gentile calendar (its independence date of 5 Iyar on the Hebrew calendar occurred in April just past).

 The seemingly valid declaration of “a generation” as being 70 years (Psalm 90:10) shall expire (since Israel’s re-birth in 1948) on that same date (refer to Jesus’ statement in Luke 21: 32).

All these facts point, in our minds, to the extremely thin number of days prior to the Second Advent of the LORD from heaven.
Yes, we soberly realize that we have given such warnings for some years as we watched the exciting fulfillment of scores of prophecies leading up to the Second Advent. But all the above discussion points lead us to the conclusion that there is scarcely any time left for mundane activities ... and that Believers should have their affairs in order to be called away to the Judgment of Jesus Christ; a New Age is about to dawn!

Israel’s Most Dangerous May in Years?

From Algemeiner: May 22, 2018GoStats counter

The former head of Israel Defense Force (IDF) Intelligence service, Amos Yadlin, has issued a warning that next month will probably be the “most dangerous May since 1967,” referring to the Six Day War. He was being interviewed by Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth.

Mr. Yadlin said that “in May 1967, the security situation in the Middle East began to deteriorate as Egypt expelled UN peacekeepers from Sinai and three Arab nations mobilized their forces along Israel’s borders. Israel eventually launched a preemptive strike in early June and decisively defeated Egypt, Jordan, and Syria.

He was warning the nation against Israeli complacency ... and perhaps overconfidence.

He referred to the “last Independence Day ceremonies” (of last week) as being extremely similar to the independence ceremonies of ’67. “(In) The Jerusalem parade, everyone was satisfied, but they didn’t pay attention to the beginning of developments that snowballed into the Six Day War.”

He referenced Israel’s overconfidence in the approaching days of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The watchful eyes of Israeli Intelligence on that occasion failed to predict the approaching conflict. As a result, Israel was caught utterly unprepared, and on its holiest day, heavy casualties were inflicted upon the Jewish State before its enemies were demolished by the IDF in a few days. He expressed worry “when the heads of state talk about Israel as “a superpower,” which he said reminds him of “the noises from ’73.” He urged more modesty on Israel’s part, and “a surer understanding of where we’re going.”

His concern was obviously the recently rising tensions and rhetoric between Israel and Iran in Syria. He worried that in February, an Iranian drone infiltrated Israeli airspace from Syria, which was shot down and found to be loaded with explosives, apparently intended for a terrorist attack. Israel’s immediate retaliation was to strike the very control center which dispatched the drone as well as its protective anti-aircraft defenses.

Part of the present concern is the Syrian airfield from which Iranian drones are flown, which Israel (inadmittedly) attacked several days ago. Israel is backing up its concrete declaration that Israel will not permit Iran to entrench itself along Israel’s northern border either with Syria or with Lebanon.

Yadlin related this seeming escalation to a recent boast made by an Iranian official: “The deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guards said that his army can erase Israel and destroy our air force, and so the only thing we can all do is escape into the sea,” said Yadlin. “From a military point of view he can’t threaten the existence of the State of Israel; he can’t even harm the air force.”

Nonetheless, he continued, Israel must exercise extreme caution in dealing with Iran.

In considering this approach, he opined that even a preventive strike upon Iran’ s forces by Israel “doesn’t have to involve the danger of a full-scale confrontation ... and I hope the people who sit in the cabinet room and the intelligence and security services know how to differentiate between when to go for the head of the Iranian snake in places (where) we can’t tolerate Iranian entrenchment in Syria, and on the other hand expelling every last Iranian from Syria. That’s an  unrealistic and incorrect goal.”

Addressing the “Palestinian March of Return” now being conducted along the Gaza border he said it will probably greatly intensify as the mobs mark “Nakba Day” next month (on May 14th – Israel’s Independence Day on the Gentile calendar), on which they grieve over their failure to do away with the emerging State of Israel in 1948.

This “Palestinian” initiative will also be affected by the action of President Trump as he decides whether to cancel and abandon his predecessor’s nuclear deal with Tehran ... a decision which will doubtless “influence Iran’s decision to retaliate against Israel,” according to Mr. Yadlin. Iran has intimated that any change or abandonment of the signed agreement with Iran as to its nuclear activities could result on a strike upon Israel, hoping to place doubt in the US president’s resolve.

All the above uncertainties have converged as Israel and the world enter the month of May, which promises to be filled with trepidation on several fronts ... about five to be exact!

Some observers have claimed that the present Iranian (Persian) interference in the Iraqi/Syrian/Lebanese war zone is evidence that Ezekiel 38 and 39 is now building. And Russia is certainly contracted as a “guard” to Iran, being her chief weapons supplier and financial partner.

But we respectfully disagree that the Gogian conflict is underway.

Firstly, the configuration of forces is not aligned as Ezekiel indicates. Turkey (Gomer and Togarmah) is in no way aligned with Russia. Neither are Libya and Ethiopia (Sudan/Kuwsh). Russia placed military forces on one prior occasion in Syria then suddenly backed off and left.

Secondly, the prophets are entirely silent on affairs as they stand at the moment, showing, we believe, its unimportant (or at least non-critical) nature. On the other hand, the prophets’ main subject of discussion at the present time is Israel’s interface with the nations around about her. Several magnitudes of prophecy are more greatly concerned with this current crisis as compared to the Gogian affair – which is covered in two definitive chapters of Ezekiel, little mention of it being given in other writings.

Thirdly, Israel is not dwelling in “peace and security ... without bars or gates ... in unwalled villages,” as Ezekiel says they must be – a fact repeated three times in Ezekiel 38. Israel is protected by a Wall surrounding much of its territory. In addition, its army is one of the world’s most capable. Its air force is superbly equipped and staffed. The entire country is festooned with military outposts and strongholds, airfields, and training grounds for its military.

Zechariah 9:10 states that the returned Christ shall remove their weapons systems: And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

In order for Israel to possess such accouterments of war, it must have been a solidly-founded society in the advanced stages of development, unlike its third-world neighbors who have purchased any arms systems they have, and not have invented and produced them as has Israel in most cases.

This information alone (the removal of Israel’s battle gear and war-readiness) contravenes any such move after any cockamamie “dispersal” and “further destruction of Israel” proposed by some folk, because such a People, having been removed and then restored to their land, would not be able to put forward such an advanced state of readiness. Does the reader see how tiny bits of information such as this, point the sure way to the events of the end time; all these must integrate fully with the larger plan which has been outlined.

So if these present developments are not worthy of mention by any of the prophets, we may safely conclude that they are transitory ... and mean absolutely nothing in the long run except to place Israel on its guard to a greater extent. The Proximal Threat is growing markedly in these closing days of Israel’s 70th year of existence, in our estimation "a generation:" (cf., Luke 21: 32; Psalm 90: 10).

No, we don’t know how they will work out to allow the clearly stated Plan to play out – not yet; but we may trust our heavenly Father’s prescience in the matter. Having said that, we must admit that we see a “rockier” road ahead for Israel as the end time draws to its close. Several of the prophets stress that YHVH “will save His people from their enemies and all those who hate us ... delivering them out of the hand of their enemies,” as Zachariah phrases it in Luke 1: 71, 74.

We, therefore, expect the external threats to become so severe and overwhelming to Israel that it may almost despair of its chances of survival ... as occurred in 1973 when Moshe Dayan reported to PM Golda Meir that he felt “the Third Temple is about to fall.” Such an eventuality will force Israel to place its trust in God, to readily accept the assistance of the LORD and His Army of Saints, and to realize the transitory might of its own arm! (cf., Zechariah 11 and 12)

Meanwhile, it is absolutely fascinating to observe, is it not?

Jerusalem Embassy Waiver Lapses

What will Trump Do?

In 1995 a law was passed by the United States Congress regarding the necessary removal of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem at the discretion of the president. It contained a ‘safety valve’ of sorts – a waiver provision which allows any president to delay the removal every six months due to ‘security factors.’

Since that time, every president of the US has exercised this waiver – delaying the embassy move to Israel’s capital – a venue disputed by nearly every world power.

During the entire seventy years of Israel’s history, the status of Jerusalem has been the central issue.

Today it is perhaps the most crucial factor in the ongoing “peace process” between Israel and the “Palestinians,” about which we read so much but see so little progress.

Jerusalem is clearly seen as “a burdensome stone” as nearly every nation on earth has weighed in with its strong opinion: “It is NOT the undisputed capital of Israel!” they claim.

But under the US law, the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act, the US embassy in Israel must (eventually) be moved to Israel’s capital city, Jerusalem, which would be concrete proof that the US regards Jerusalem as the bona fide capital of the Jewish State.

A Deadline Missed

Yesterday (December 4th) a significant event happened – or rather failed to happen.

President Donald Trump, who had signed the waiver earlier in the year, failed to sign it by its new deadline: December 4th.

This brought the prevalent speculation that President Trump could (will?) officially recognize the City as Israel’s capital, or even announce a move of the embassy as early as this current week.

Israeli observer David Rosenberg, writing in Ha’aretz (we think), a left-wing Israeli daily paper, believes the action by Mr. Trump is imminent. He wrote, “The act does provide for a security waiver, however, allowing the president to delay implementation of the law for six months at a time if security conditions do not, in the president’s view, permit the move. Every president from Clinton to Trump has used the waiver to push off the embassy move.”

Presidential candidate Trump vowed in 2016 during his campaign to move the embassy; but on June 1, 2017, he signed a six-month waiver allowing the embassy to remain in Tel Aviv until December 1st.

That date passed last Friday.

The White House reported to a cadre of intensely interested reporters that the president would delay acting on the waiver until after the weekend, promising a decision by Monday night.

But President Trump allowed the Monday evening deadline to pass without any such waiver being signed – a clear signal to everyone that something is about to change.

A professor at Northwestern University in Chicago, and Head of International Law at the Kohelet Policy Forum, Eugene Kontrovich, said that the president’s decision to allow the deadline to pass likely indicates that the embassy will indeed be moved. “Midnight has passed and no Jerusalem Embassy waiver was signed," said Kontrovich, "which means the [1995 Jerusalem] law will take full effect. It is a hard deadline, and once a waiver is missed, it can’t be made late."

He added, "I can't see any legal way out of this, the President has begun the process of moving the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump has finally corrected 70 years of discriminatory policy towards Israel. Make no mistake; this is huge!"

The entire Arab world is up in arms about the possibilities. Last week, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued an urgent plea for a summit meeting of Muslim nations if the United States takes the controversial position of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

It seems nearly the only issue upon which the Muslim world can agree as an entire body.

The OIC added that “(The) US recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital would be seen as ‘a blatant attack upon the Arab and Islamic nations.’”

A meeting of the Council in the Red Sea Saudi city of Jeddah was called on an emergency basis, seeking to enlarge and intensify its members' concerns over the possible move by the US.

"If the United States takes the step of recognizing Jerusalem as the so-called (sic) capital of Israel, we unanimously recommend holding a meeting at the level of the council of foreign ministers followed by an Islamic summit as soon as possible," the pan-Islamic body said in a statement.

Thus we are reconfirmed in our knowledge (and expectation) that the status of Jerusalem per se would be the most contentious issue of the decades-long struggle between Israel and the "Palestinians.’’

The status of Jerusalem is surely the most contentious issue of the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Following upon the account of Jerusalem being divided in earlier verses (during the War of Independence), the Prophet Zechariah summed up the present circumstances in the concisely phrased words ...

Zechariah 12:2 - Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it (this includes the contenders and their allies such as the UNO, the European Community, and other partisan groups) shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

They have been warned! The Father will protect and defend His Holy City against any and all contenders! Zechariah’s next words clarify just how He shall accomplish this ... In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem. Zechariah 12:6

This ancient record should give all the contenders adequate warning of what is in store for them. But which of them has ever heeded much of the wisdom of YHVH contained in the Bible?

During the Obama Administration and previous ones, nothing has been done to move the embassy to Jerusalem. But America has a new leader – one who is apparently unafraid to “cross” the Arab nations in matters of principle.

It should be obvious to the entire world that Jerusalem is (and always has been) the undisputed capital of Israel – and never that of any other group of people, such as the “Palestinians” – who have never been a nation with their own government and laws and sovereignty over any portion of the earth. But until Israel became a nation with its capital at Jerusalem, the events predicted by Zechariah could never happen; they depended upon the existence of Israel, the nation, prior to fulfillment.

We wait and watch for developments in this global shift in US policy hopefully later this current week!

An Open Letter to all Readers

November 2017

To all readers of the Gospel Publicity League website:

According to the expressed wishes of our dear friend and colleague, Charles French, the former Editor and Publisher of this gospel news site, the present Editor informs all readers that he, the undersigned, intends (God willing) from this date to undertake the continuation of the dedicated work of the Gospel Publicity League in the spirit and energy of its founder, Charles Henry French.

Mr. French began this work in October 1939 – the same month that saw the German invasion of Poland and the “official” beginning of World War II.

We assume that his beginning effort was made at that time because that first editor and publisher foresaw that the “time of the end” was then in rapid progress forward and that well-researched, thoroughly-studied, current diagnosis and commentary of passing events would be of great benefit to those who watched for the Second Coming of the Savior from the heavens.

The founder of the GPL continued the work faithfully as the years passed until his demise some decades later – during the post-war era – when he accidentally fell from his garage roof and died of his injuries.

At that time Charles French, his son, took up the work and faithfully carried it forward until his demise earlier this year.

Our colleague Charles meantime had requested the assistance of the succeeding Editor and Publisher of GPL, myself, the undersigned, who several years ago, he appointed to assist with the research and publication of current interpretations of Bible prophecy as well as other scriptural matters of essential interest to readers.

Before his demise, Charles  French specifically requested the undersigned to continue his duties as researcher/contributor to the website – in other words, to carry forward the work of GPL.

To that end, we have therefore dedicated ourselves, and now undertake to carry on as he wished to the best of our ability in the spirit of the earlier two publishers.

It is an enormous responsibility, all aspects of which are not yet known to us.

We do so somewhat hampered because of the following ...

As a matter of record, Charles French had left the internal records of the GPL operation, the email lists, all available financial assets, and presumably all the printed literature and other materials that were in stock, to local persons in New South Wales who had presumably promised to carry forward the work of GPL.

They, unfortunately, appear not to have done so as desired by Charles French.

And all indications are that they have no present intention to do so.

These facts are stated merely for the record, and are not intended to be an accusation of anyone of intentional malfeasance or subterfuge; they are matters of record only.

They are given to explain why the continuance of this initiative is going forward at first perhaps somewhat awkwardly, with our eyes open to all opportunities – directions which will be compelling to us as they appear.

In that spirit, please bear with me as I take up the opportunity to serve you in the spirit of the brethren French – fellow servants who viewed current events in the same vein as myself and yet other contributors to GPL (including men such as Graham Bacon of NSW, now deceased).

Our request is that you study the materials which we present in the context of scripture only, not interjecting outside philosophies or imposed interpretations upon God’s word.

We strive consistently to approach our interpretive views of fulfilling Bible prophecy according to that Word and by no other standard. We do our best to qualify, faithfully to prove and substantiate by scripture, all our published work.

We ask that all readers/students take the same pathway to a better, fuller and more confident understanding of His Word of salvation, availing themselves of the strength, the confidence, and the knowledgeable expectation which such preparation gives to each student.

 Faithfully yours,
